Paper 6C - 27 November 1998 Meeting

ASSOCIATION OF HAMPSHIRE AND ISLE OF WIGHT LOCAL AUTHORITIES

27 November 1998

CRIME AND DISORDER ACT - PROGRESS OF ISLE OF WIGHT COUNCIL

Report of the Director of Public Protection, Isle of Wight Council

1. Progress on the Isle of Wight is satisfactory. Two Steering Group Meetings and two Partner Group Meetings have been held. The Audit is on track for completion by the end of December 1998. A media plan has been implemented and public consultation on the proposed strategies will take place in late January and early February 1999.

2. Liaison between the various groups involved is good, principally due to the networks already in place. The sharing of data and cross referencing is going well. However there are anomalies which will need to be addressed in next years full audit.

3. Liaison at a strategic level is essential for the Youth Offending Team, Drug Action Team and Crime and Disorder Act strategies to become a coherent package.
