ASSOCIATION OF HAMPSHIRE AND ISLE OF WIGHT AUTHORITIES
29 May 1998
HAMPSHIRE COUNTY STRUCTURE PLAN (REVIEW)
Report by the Chief Executive, Hampshire County Council
That the report to the County Council's Planning and Transportation Committee and the Committee's resolution be noted.
1. The Planning and Transportation Committee of Hampshire County Council on 18 May considered the report attached and resolved as follows:-
(i) That the Committee adopts as the housing figure for Hampshire Structure Plan (Review), 42,000 dwellings for the period 2001 to 2011.
(ii) That no provision be made for reserve sites during that period on the basis that the Council, as a strategic planning authority, is satisfied that the adopted dwelling provision will meet need in the County's own view of currently predicted housing requirements.
(iii) That the priority for development puts urban regeneration and brownfield sites first.
(iv) That, with the exception of Major Development Areas, Local Planning Authorities should continue to decide the location of development sites within their own boundaries having regard to other relevant policies in the Structure Plan and Local Plans.
