Paper 8B - 24 September 1999 Meeting

ASSOCIATION OF HAMPSHIRE AND ISLE OF WIGHT LOCAL AUTHORITIES

24 September 1999

HAMPSHIRE COUNTY STRUCTURE PLAN (REVIEW)

Report by the Honorary Secretary

1. Test Valley Borough Council, along with other District Councils in Hampshire, has become increasingly concerned at the delay in adoption of modifications to the Hampshire County Structure Plan. The District Councils are charged with preparation of Local Plans, and with development control. The main purpose of the Structure Plan is to provide guidance in the preparation of Local Plans. However, delays in adopting the Hampshire County Structure Plan (Review) are now becoming critical, striking at the main purpose of the Structure Plan itself.

2. The Borough Council has therefore passed the following resolution for consideration by the Association:-

"That the Structure Plan Authorities be urged to adopt the Structure Plan Review as soon as possible, to provide the guidance necessary for the review of Local Plans."

ALAN JONES
Honorary Secretary and Chief Executive of Test Valley Borough Council
