This report sets out our current work programme, based on the Action Plan agreed by Members for the year. Headlines of the Action Plan are given in the Annex.

ANNEX

ASSOCIATION ACTION PLAN 2002-2003

Ž Prepare for Comprehensive Performance Assessment, building on the work carried out by Hampshire County Council and the Unitary Authorities

Ž Develop the pattern and consultative arrangements for local strategic partnerships and community strategies across the area

Ž Develop Health Scrutiny arrangements alongside the Strategic Health Authority

Ž Develop the new Hampshire and Isle of Wight arrangements for safer communities

Ž Follow up the Local Government White Paper, especially "capacity-building" with South East Employers and IDeA

Ž Support the campaign for adequate funding to reflect extra costs in the South East

Ž Review action being taken on some key concerns of member authorities:

- affordable housing and key worker housing

- provision of care and nursing homes

- parking standards in new housing developments

Ž Support and promote locally the strategic and organisational objectives of the Local Government Association (set out in the LGA business plan) and consider whether to incorporate the Association as the Hampshire and Isle of Wight LGA.
