Review of Local Government Regional Forum

17 November 1999

Debbie Wood
Head of Executive Office
Local Government House Smith Square

Dear Debbie

Local Government Regional Forum

I refer to your letter of 13 October and the LGA consultation paper on the proposed Local Government Regional Forum.

This Association represents all the principal councils (County, Unitary and District) in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight with the current exception of Southampton. The Local Associations of Parish and Town Councils are also members.

We are content with the proposals for the Forum, and have been pleased to have been represented at the various meetings you have convened on the subject. We are ready to work within the six- counties confederation to appoint five of our eight (in total) representatives from the South East. The Association of Councils in the Thames Valley Region (ACTVaR) will appoint the other three.

I have discussed this response with the representatives of Surrey LGA and ACTVaR. I believe it is fully consistent with their responses to you.

I trust this response is helpful. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at any time.

Yours sincerely

Nick Goulder
